Progression of film production world-wide
Like many industries, the film production industry was halted in March this year resulting from much needed restrictions on movement implemented by the UK government. We appreciate these measures were necessary to protect the public and save lives, however the change over night was itself like something out of a movie. Bustling film studios ground to a halt while all in the industry eagerly awaited further news.
3 months later, we are seeing positive changes around the world that had the film production industry excited for what’s ahead. It seems although working to different rules, many countries all over the world are working towards similar guidelines. These include: -
· Continuing filming albeit at reduced hours
· Only allowing make up services for those who cannot do it themselves
· Holding most auditions, and certainly initial auditions, remotely to limit contact with people
· Ensuring actors adhere to heightened cleanliness regime by washing hands in between scenes
Some film production studios are even going as far as getting cast members to use their own props during filming. It is positive to see the amazing steps being taken by the industry to create the new “normal” during these difficult times.
We are excited to see what the next 3 months bring and hope it sees working life return to normal and family and friends being able to see each other again. Until then, most importantly, stay safe!
