Global pandemic sees production of top TV shows delayed

The last 10 months have been a trying time for all in the production industry, whether producing films, tv shows or anything in between. The industry as a whole has reacted phenomenally under immense pressure of this unprecedented situation.

It has recently been reported that the latest production to be put on hold is Britain’s Got Talent 2021 and the news is going to come has a disappointment to the huge fan base who eagerly await the show each year for a variety of entertainment.

It was originally anticipated that the filming of the 15th series of Britain’s Got Talent would begin in late January 2021 but the announcement of the latest Lockdown has meant this is not possible in the way it was planned. It is not always easy to tell from watching episodes but the production of such a large scale show involves hundreds of people. Production is still permitted under the current lockdown rules but acts often have to travel across country or from other countries to audition, it just isn’t possible right now.

No new dates have been announced at this stage but it is hoped that some normality can return by the summer which will allow the series to be aired in the autumn.

Whilst some shows are having to delay production, there is no need to panic. Filming of others are being adapted to be “Covid-friendly”, including family favourites such as Dancing On Ice, so there is no risk of our tv screens filling with repeats just yet.
